DORK: A Few Delayed Random Thoughts

DORK: Title Cover
Note: This is not review. Basically to write a review, one need to have a view first. These are some unorganized thoughts of truly yours, before, while and after reading the book. If you haven’t read the book yet, and are planning to buy the book, DO NOT read this.
Thoughts are quite random and unorganized, hence it might be self contradicting.
After 3 Mistakes (Yes, 1, 2 and 3; Phew… I was in no STATE read the 4th) I almost stopped reading modern Indian-English fiction. As far I remember, the last one would be Keep off the Grass by Karan Bajaj.
I decided to buy ‘DORK: The Incredible Adventures of Robin Einstein Varghese‘ by Sidin Vadukut when I’ve seen an Ad at Fly You Fools, and Flipkart had a 25% offer running then. My ‘Man to Man, Mallu to Mallu‘ efforts to obtain a free autographed copy failed. He conveniently ignored it. Thanks to Flipkart, I got a copy within 2 days, and I finished reading it in 4 straight hours.
Ok, here you go. Well, I planned to right this much earlier. It’s almost a month since I read the book, so it’s more random now.
If you are already following @sidin on Twitter or been reading his blog Domain Maximus, you probably should buy this book. He follows the same style of humour. And believe me, its much better than many of his contemporaries. For a sample refer to this poster below.
Robin is so un-mallu. He can be anyone but a mallu.
The prologue is probably one of the best, and refreshingly different, I’ve ever read. I wish if he makes the prologue and aftermath into a full book.
This probably is the best ‘Dear Diary’ fiction since… Em… Dracula??
Sidin considers his readers intelligent. If you’re not an MBA and/or is not into corporate office culture, you might interpret a lot of things, lot more differently. You might really miss the small hints and sarcasms.
The last few pages, ran much faster than most of the book. Why the hurry? The one last chapter was like ‘one night at call center in a few pages’ type. But much better, though. But just when the story goes more gripping, and you expect a smooth ending, all we get is a blunt one.
Oh, Man! Robin is a Mallu. For sure. At least on the prologue.
DORK is an excellent light read. Period.
Oh, Yes. Don’t miss the back cover. Especially the celebrity reviews.

[...] must admit that I enjoyed reading Resident Dormitus. It might not be a witty as Dork, or as simple as Ineligible Bachelors or as thrilling as Chanakya’s chant, but it has [...]
